I agree with other reviewers that the book binding is Cheap (with a capital C), but the contents are inspiring. I laugh at how we in the states have begun to consider something the size of a closet, a small house, and desirable. The homes in this book are truly desirable, customizable to fit an individual family’s needs, and “timeless” in design. I bought this book because I would like to have a home built for retirement, and being a huge fan of Paul R. Williams, I knew he would have something for me in this book. I’ve narrowed my choices down to four designs. Lol! Therefore, the only reason this book gets four stars instead of five is because of the aforementioned cheap binding. By the time I hire an architect, I’ll be able to just bring in the page because it will have fallen out completely! These plans and drawings are a wonderful glimpse into well-designed but affordable homes of the middle of the 20th Century. Paul Williams was a brilliant architect, who could work in virtually any style or budget.I loved the notes about how to customize each house. Each plan was well-thought out; I also enjoyed the glimpse of 1940’s California. Beautiful work.Love this book! Love mid century modern!!Full of floor plans from days gone by. Interesting...good little coffee table book. What a fabulous architect. I really enjoyed seeing this book and leaf through it often. These are NOT small homes! All are over 1,200 sq feet and many over 2,000 sq ft. Not a good reference book if you are looking for small home designs. Most are stylish, single story expensive builds.
