Description

The Jost Project artists are based in the Philadelphia area. Tony Miceli (vibraphone), Paul Jost (vocal, harmonica) and Kevin MacConnell (acoustic bass) make up the band originally formed by Tony and Kevin, playing their jazz interpretation of the classic rock they heard when they grew up ... the music of Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and more. The seeds of this idea were planted in Tony s 2005 recording Hippie jazz . When Tony heard Paul sing, a multi-talented musician as well as vocalist, he felt such a strong musical connection that he invited him to be part of the group. Because of Paul s strong musical influence and arranging talent, Tony and Kevin were convinced the group should have Paul s name and they became The Jost Project. The combination fit and The Jost Project grew in popularity. Tony s vibraphone stirs echoes of the famed Modern Jazz Quartet with Milt Jackson. Kevin s lyrical playing is an essential element and Paul invokes blues, mainstream, and scat styling in his unique introspective way, bringing out the emotions contained in the songs. It s immediately evident that these skilled artists each bring their own distinctive experience and approach to this blended collective.

I was made aware of The Jost Project by a friend. What a pleasant surprise. Great covers and great original works. Paul obviously is an accomplished musician, but more importantly he LOVES good music. His song styling is on par with some of the greats Sinatra, Eckstine, Prysock (I'm dating myself here) It's great to discover new music--it's even better to discover great new music!! Looking forward to upcoming Jost projects:-) Saw Paul live in Philly recently and he didn't disappoint.
